Q&A

Q1: What is Perfusion Index (PI)?

A1: Perfusion Index (PI) is a measure of the blood flow in your finger. The value can vary from finger to finger. A lower PI value indicates weaker peripheral circulation, and it will also decrease when your hands and feet feel cold. PI is generally not used as a primary medical indicator.

Q2: Why might the PI or SpO2 (blood oxygen) values be different when measured on the left and right hands?

A2: This is because the circulation in your left and right hands can be different. The hand with poorer circulation will likely show lower SpO2 and PI values. For reference, we typically use the higher of the two values.

Q3: Why can't I connect the pulse oximeter to my phone?

A3: First, make sure your phone’s Bluetooth is turned on. Then, clip the oximeter onto your finger and power it on. Next, open the app on your phone. When the Bluetooth symbol on the oximeter starts blinking, the data should appear in the app. If you still can’t connect, try closing and reopening the app, and it should automatically connect.

Q4: Do I need to manually pair the pulse oximeter?

A4: For your convenience, the oximeter is designed to pair automatically and does not require you to manually set up a Bluetooth connection.
